VENTURA, CA — Based on 2010 financial results, locally owned County Commerce Bank has been recognized by financial industry ratings organizations as one of the nation’s best performing banks and the highest rated bank on California’s central coast. The bank outperformed every other bank headquartered in the tri-counties.
During 2010, County Commerce Bank was recognized by U.S. Banker magazine as one of the Top 200 Community Banks out of 8,000 banks in the nation based on three year average return on equity.
In addition, Financial Management Consulting Group, a financial industry rating company that publishes bank performance reports, rated County Commerce Bank in the top 5% of the best performing banks in all of California. County Commerce is the only bank based in the tri-counties to be ranked in the top 100. The report’s rankings for 243 banks headquartered in the state are based on earnings, asset quality, efficiency, margin management, and fee analysis.
D.A. Davidson & Co. named County Commerce Bank 2010’s top rated bank headquartered on California’s central coast from Ventura County to Santa Cruz County. D.A. Davidson & Co. is a firm specializing in equity research on “blue chip” companies for retail investors and institutional clients throughout North America. Their rating is based on financial performance, earnings, capitalization, and growth.
According to Joseph D. Kreutz, County Commerce Bank’s President and Chief Executive Officer, “Our bank has a great story to tell. Our 2010 financial results reflect the bank’s solid, steady, prudent growth during difficult economic times. We feel that it is our obligation to our shareholders and customers to manage the bank so it can thrive in any environment even when the competition may be unable to do so.”
The bank also was rated a “Super Premier Performing Bank” for the third time by The Findley Reports. County Commerce was one of only 19 California banks, and the only bank headquartered on the central coast, to receive this rating for their 2010 performance. The bank has been rated a “Super Premier Performing Bank” or “Premier Performing Bank” for the past six years. The Findley Reports publish the most comprehensive financial institution analysis offering comparison, performance and evaluation of California’s banking industry. Their ratings are highly regarded and recipients are recognized throughout California as financial institutions achieving exceptional performance. Banks are rated on operating results including deposits, net operating income, equity retention, and quality of the loan portfolio.
Kreutz noted, “We are honored to be recognized again this year as a Super Premier Performing Bank by The Findley Reports. This advanced rating recognizes the exceptional performance our bank exhibited during a year that was extremely difficult for many banks across the country.”
In addition, the bank received the highest Five Star rating for the 24th consecutive quarter from BauerFinancial, Inc., which indicates that the bank is one of the safest in the United States. County Commerce is the only bank headquartered in Ventura County to receive this award for 24 consecutive quarters and the only bank in the tri-counties to earn five stars for the fourth quarter of 2010. BauerFinancial provides independent bank and credit union ratings. They subject quarterly financial institution data to a thorough analysis and compare it with historical data for consistency. Upon completion of the analysis, a star-rating is assigned based on a scale of zero to five stars with five stars being the strongest.
Kreutz explained, “Our Board of Directors and staff are extremely pleased to be ranked so high among the nation’s banks. Our proven track record of success is evidenced by our industry awards, ratings and recognition. Our team’s hard work and dedication have resulted in our ability to remain financially sound and to be able to provide the wide range of quality deposit, cash management and credit services our customers deserve. We continue to focus on supporting our community’s credit needs. The bank’s excellent liquidity position allows us to continue lending to local businesses and individuals, which strengthens the economy of our local community. We offer a full range of financing options including working capital lines of credit, equipment and inventory financing, personal and home equity lines of credit, 1 to 4 residential bridge loans, commercial real estate financing, and we are an SBA Preferred Lender.”
Kreutz added, “We value these rankings and awards from financial industry experts, but our entire team believes the ongoing support of our customers remains our most important performance measurement. We are well-positioned for the future, with a customer base of strong relationships, a high quality loan portfolio, excellent products and services, loyal shareholders, and a dedicated and experienced staff.”
